On Thursday night, the Tremont Lady Eagles hosted the Shannon Lady Red Raiders for a varsity double header. The Lady Eagles picked up the sweep with a 4-2 game one win and a 5-1 game two win.

Shannon took an early lead in game one when they plated two runs in the top of the first, but the Lady Eagles answered in the bottom of the inning with 3 runs of their own. Lauren Graham drove in the first run of the inning when she reached on an error and Hayden Lindley tied the game on a fielder's choice where no out was recorded. The game didn't stayed tied long as Liz Holland ripped an RBI single to give the Lady Eagles a 3-2 lead after one inning.

The game remained at 3-2 until the bottom of the fourth when Kari Lease hit a RBI single to give the Lady Eagles a 4-2 lead.

The Lady Eagles held onto the lead in the top of the fifth to pick up the 4-2 game one win.

After a short intermission the two teams hit the field again for game two. In the top of the first the lady Eagles scored their first run on an error by the Shannon short stop, but Lindley drove int he second run on a RBI single to give Tremont a 2-0 lead.

Shannon plated one run in the bottom of the first to to cut the lead down to one, and the score remained 2-1 until the top of the fourth.

Megan Gasaway hit a RBI single in the top of the fourth to extend the Lady Eagles lead to 3-1.

In the top of the fifth, Holland ripped a double off the left field fence that plated two runs and extended Tremont's lead to 5-1. Shannon was unable to answer in the bottom of the inning, giving the Lady Eagles the 5-1 win and the sweep.

The sweep over Shannon improves the Lady Eagles record to 3-3 on the year and they will travel to Smithville on Tuesday for a division showdown with the Lady Noles.
