Charline Lovell

BALDWYN – Nora Charline Lovell, 86, died Monday, July 19, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born May 6, 1924, to R.D. and Irma Boren. She was a retired employee of North Mississippi Medical Center. She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Baldwyn. She had resided at The Meadows in Fulton for the past 2 years.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Bishop officiating. Burial was in Prentiss Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include two daughters, Brenda (Roy) Cresap of Fulton and Diane Pannell of Rochester, Minn.; one sister, Pat McBrayer of Saltillo; one brother, R.D. (Geritta) Boren Jr. of Booneville; her grandchildren, Brad (Lisa) Cresap and Brian (Paige) Cresap, both of Fulton, Tina (Craig) Lindsey of Birmingham, Kim Thomas and Jessica Haskins, both of Minnesota; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Caden, Peyton and Regan Cresap, Shana, Jacob and Sophia Lindsey, and Madison Schmoll.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Lovell; four sisters, Avis Ryan, Lula Faye Lovell, Geraldine Heavener and Bessie Mae Swinney; and three brothers, J.C. Boren, Billy Wayne Boren and Elton Boren.

Olene Hall

GOLDEN – Olene Hall, 83, died Monday, July 19, 2010, at her residence. She was born Nov. 1, 1926, in Franklin County, Ala., to Ambrose Washington and Icy James Cason. She was a factory worker an retired from Blue Bell. She was a member of Golden Central Baptist Church.

Services were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Belmont with Bro. Ralph Culp officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens at Red Bay, Ala.

Survivors are four children, Dorothy Alexander (David) of Trinity, Ala., Peggy Hughes (Bobby) of Tupelo, Sue Thorne (James) of Red Bay, Ala., and Jerry Hall (Barbara) of Belmont; four sisters, Jean Woodham, Shirley Hughes and Mary Ellen Terrell, all of Hamilton, Ala., and Lillie Mae Abbott of Hackleburg, Ala.; two brothers, Burl Cason of Hamilton, Ala., and Joe Cason of Fulton; seven grandchildren, Susan Alexander, Chris Alexander, Camille Dickerson, Melanie Hughes, Michael Thorne, Suzanne Rhodes and Tonya Rogers; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Hall; her parents; and two brothers, Charles Cason and James Cason.

Pallbearers were Michael Thorne, Chris Alexander, Kendal Coker, Terry Dickerson, Greg Rhodes and Phillip Rogers.

Almie Pruitt

NETTLETON – Almie Pruitt, 97, died Sunday, July 18, 2010, at North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born July 28, 1912, in Itawamba County to William and Nannie Estes Pruitt. She was a native of Itawamba County but had lived in Lee County for the past 19 years. She was a retired farmer and a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Golden. She enjoyed raising sweet potatoes, quilting and working in her garden.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, at the Chapel of Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Nettleton with Rev. Marty Comer and Rev. Jerry Guess officiating. Burial was in Hodge Cemetery in Golden.

Survivors include a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Minnie Pruitt, Edna Pruitt, Hazel Brown, Cora Underwood and Vina Gist; and two brothers, her twin, Elmer Pruitt, and Leo Pruitt.

Pallbearers were Bervin Underwood, Murlis Underwood, Larry Underwood, Troy Underwood, Clyde Gist, Jimmy Ray Gist, Chris Gist and Cory Gist.

Donald E. Snipes

MOOREVILLE - Donald Edwin Snipes, 64, died Monday, July 19, 2010, at North Mississippi Medical Center after a sudden illness. He was born on April 27, 1946, to Wilson and Opha Snipes in Lee County. He had great success in the cattle industry. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Skyline. He enjoyed gardening, horses, cattle dealing, pretty much anything to do with the outdoors and especially spending time with his children.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 22, at Lee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Raymond Rooney officiating. Lee Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include five daughters, Marilyn Frierson and husband, Clemon, of Tupelo, Jeannie Senter and husband, Jay, of Shannon, Heather Pannell Giesken and husband, Jay, of Mooreville, Kristy Clement and husband, Keith, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Mary Kathryn Stults of Nettleton; two brother, Perrin Snipes and wife, Barbara, of the Evergreen Community and Dwight Snipes and wife, Laura, of Covington, Ga.; one sister, Rita Snipes of Brad, Texas; a special brother-in-law, Melvin Westmoreland; six grandchildren, Austin Pannell, John Thomas Senter II, Emily Clement, Bryce Giesken, Preston Stults and Elizabeth Clement.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Gail Westmoreland; and his former wife, Barbara Snipes.

Pallbearers were Melvin Westmoreland, Sonny McGonagill, Randy Snipes, Matt Snipes, Roy Morgan Jr., Bill Rayburn and Larry Copeland.

Joe Bates

FULTON - Joe Elkin Bates, 71, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo after a long battle with Alzheimers disease. He was born in Mantachie to the late Elmer and Mattie Hurd Bates. He married Jo Elizabeth Senter on March 28, 1959. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fulton. He was employed for JESCO early in his career. Then he worked for Itawamba Community College for 33 years. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 22, at Senter Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Eugene Digby officiating. Burial was in East Fulton Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Jo Senter Bates of Fulton; two daughters, Tammy (Doug) Cunningham and Elizabeth “Gidget” Haynes; three grandchildren, Rusty (Ashley) Martin and Sam and Maggie Marshall; one great granddaughter, Mae Caroline Martin; one brother, James (Kathy) Bates; a host of nieces and nephews; and a special nephew, Shane Senter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Nell Lesley; and three brothers, Hubert, Guy and Jerry Bates.

Pallbearers were Charles Bates, Kenny Bates, Johnny Lesley, Kane Bates, Adam Bates and Jackie Robinson.

Memorial donations may be made to the Sanctuary Hospice House or the First Baptist Church in Fulton.

Junior Simpson

HOUSTON - Samuel W. "Junior" Simpson Jr., 82, died Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at Calhoun Health Services Hospital. He was born Oct. 6, 1928, in Calhoun County to Samuel W. and Selena Wilson Simpson. He was a retired farmer and a Baptist.

Services were Thursday, July 22, at Southern Funeral Chapel in Houston with Bro. Carl Morris and Bro. Robert Earl Alexander officiating. Burial was in Old Field Cemetery in Webster County.

Survivors include four children, Frona Carter (Arthur) of Houston, Martha Lou Wilson (Robert Earl) of Mantachie, Betty Ann Brassfield of Houlka and Lena Nell Moore (Jimmy Ray) of Vardaman; one sister, Eunice Woods of Crowder; eight grandchildren, Jimmy, Heather and Haley Moore, Jessica, Bridgett and Marcus Carter (Jennifer), and Shonda and Robbie Wilson; six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ella Mae Simpson; one son, Billy Wayne Simpson; and two grandchildren, Joseph Daniel Simpson and Mary Ann Simpson.

Pallbearers were Jimmy Moore, Jim Moore, Caleb amp"Squeakyamp" Criddle, Walter Haire, Sylvester Armstrong and Bob Armstrong. Honorary pallbearers were Marcus Carter, Haley and Heather Moore, and Jessica Carter.

Catherine O. Mitchell

DENNIS - Catherine Marie O'Malley Mitchell, 48, died Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at her residence. She was born June 8, 1962, in Kenosha, Wis., and she was a homemaker.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 22, at Harvest Fellowship Church in Red Bay, Ala., with Bro. Glenn Smith and Bro. Mickey Trammel officiating. Burial was in New Bethel Cemetery in Belmont. Deaton Funeral Home of Belmont was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors are her husband, David Mitchell of Dennis; three children, Mandalee Nichols of Tishomingo, Danny Lee Nichols Jr. of Golden and Chelsea Rosemond Renee Nichols of Belmont; her mother, Alyce Hale (Tommy Earl) of Golden; two brothers, Donald Thomas O'Malley Jr. (Renee) of Appleton, Wis., and Tommy Earl Hale II (Lucy) of Brazil; one sister, Christy Nieto (Angel) of Belmont; and three grandchildren, Hannah Gwendolyn Nichols, Carley Jean Marie Tedford and Aislynn Renee Grace Tedford.

She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Thomas O'Malley Sr.

Pallbearers were Lee Dillard, Wesley Yielding and Keith Letson.

Middleton Ray

FULTON – Middleton “Shack” Ray, 78, died Sunday, July 25, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born April 19, 1932, in Detroit, Ala. to George and Vernie Johnson Ray. He worked for American Motors and F.L. Crane before working several years at Day-Brite where he retired. He was a member of the Tilden Church of Christ. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed farming and gardening.

Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Minister David Paden officiating. Burial was in the Tilden Community Cemetery.

Survivors include one son, Randy M. Ray; one daughter, Becky Dulaney (Donnie); two granddaughters, Lydia Dulaney and Laine Dulaney; and one great-grandson, Colton Lewis, all of Fulton.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Loise Jean Ray, who died April 15, 2010; two granddaughters, Laticia Dulaney and Maranda Ray Little; a daughter-in-law, Rhonda Ray; and his parents.

Pallbearers were Dennis “Pab” Lewis, Tanner Lewis, H.A. Spencer, Ray Tutor, Joe Underwood and Mike Wiygul.

Jasper C. Rigual

GOLDEN - Jasper C. Rigual, 18 months, died Wednesday, July 21, 2010, in an auto accident on Hwy. 25 at Fairview. He was born Feb. 26, 2009, in Amory to Jose and Jodi Wilemon Rigual III. He attended Walker Baptist Church.

Services were held at noon Saturday, July 24, at Walker Baptist Church. Burial was in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Senter Funeral Home of Fulton was in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his parents, Jose and Jodi Rigual of Golden; grandparents, Jose and Tammy Rigual of Golden, and Sharon Wilemon of Red Bay, Ala.; great-grandparents, Clarice Jackson of Red Bay and J.W. Ewing of Fulton; three aunts, Stephanie Reid, April Wilemon and Martinia Rigual.

Pallbearers were Stoney Ewing, Daniel Homes, Tracie Blaylock, Jose Rigual Jr. and Abraham Alvarez.

Dwight Davis

FULTON – Eaden Dwight Davis, 66, died Saturday, July 24, 2010, at his home. He was born Dec. 23, 1943, to Elby and Ethel Langley Davis. He worked in construction for many years. He helped coach little league baseball and football for several years and was an avid Mississippi State sports fan. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Danny Rushing officiating. Burial was in Itawamba Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Davis, of Fulton; three sons, William “Bill” Charles Davis of Pontotoc, Brent Eaden Davis (Cindy) of Mooreville and Brian Heath Davis of Centralia, Wash.; one daughter, Rhonda Suzanne Cowan (Terry) of Dorsey; one brother, Oma Davis (Martha) of Fulton; one sister, Noma DuBoise (Tom) of Fulton; and five grandchildren, Alex Holley, Will Davis II, Samantha Davis, Beth Davis and Ryan Davis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Ploma, Roman and Edward Davis.

Pallbearers were Gary Adkins, Hollis Thomas, Alex Holley, Chaney Kennedy, Scott Davis and Gunner Ragsdale.

Honorary pallbearers were Will Davis II and Ryan Davis.

Hazel Wheeler

FULTON - Hazel Virginia Stevens Wheeler, 89, died Friday, July 23, 2010, at The Meadows in Fulton. She was born the only child of Harvey Gordon Stevens and Alice Kendricks Stevens on June 7, 1921, in Itawamba County. She graduated from Itawamba Agricultural High School. On Dec. 21, 1940, she married Berry Mitchell Wheeler, who died on April 30, 1995.

She lived on a farm in the New Salem Community where she was a member of the New Salem United Methodist Church where she served as treasurer for many years. She was a former factory worker, farmer, office manager at American Colloid in New Salem and worked in the family business, Farmer's Supply in Smithville. She enjoyed camping, traveling, sewing and crafts. She was always devoted to her family, her church and her community.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 25, at the New Salem United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Coggins officiating.

Survivors include three sons, Willis L. Wheeler, Mitchell (Pam) Wheeler, all of Fulton and Flynn (Theresa) Wheeler of Tupelo.; five grandchildren; three step grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and one step great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Edie Cameron; one infant son, Wilford Dean Wheeler; a grandson; and a granddaughter.
