James Gray

FULTON – James Gray, 73, died Monday, July 5, 2010. He was born Sept. 7, 1936, in Itawamba County to Samuel and Lucene Christian Gray. He was a brick layer and Baptist by belief.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, at Senter Funeral Home with Mike Deaton officiating. Burial was in Walton Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Gray of Fulton; four daughters, Tammy Carruthers and Lisha Lewis, both of Fulton, Kathy McMillen of Mantachie and Lisa White of Nettleton; four sons, Steve Gray of Mantachie, Jamie and Jerry Gray, both of Fulton, and Mike Gray of Mooreville; two sisters, Mayola Robinson and Sandra Dulaney, both of Fulton; three brothers, Buddy Gray of Nettleton and Doug and Wayne Gray, both of Fulton.

He was preceded in death by one son, Walter Gray.

Pallbearers were Steve, Jamie and Jerry Gray, Joseph Ranies, John McMillen and Kyle Suski.

Charlean Underwood

FULTON – Charlean Underwood, 83, died Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at the Courtyards Nursing Facility. She was born Nov. 10, 1926, to Clovis and Audrey Tomlin Lyle. She worked at Blue Bell for many years before retiring from Krueger International. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She enjoyed sewing, canning and cooking.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 9, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Jackie Gray officiating. Burial was in the Walton Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Ellis Ray Underwood (Carolyn) of Iuka and Larry Frank Underwood (Lisa) of Fulton; one daughter, Geraldine Brassfield (Lucky) of Fulton; two brothers, James Lyle (Nell) of Birmingham and Billy Wayne Lyle of New Albany; seven sisters, Olean Wright, Nelean Palmer, Bonnie Franks and Pearlean Jarrell, all of Fulton, Mary Jarrell of Picayune, Sue Barnes of Dyersburg, Tenn., and Liz Williams of Dorsey; 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Lee Underwood; two brothers, Bobby Ray Lyle and Lee Lyle; one grandson, Tanner Thomas; and her parents.

Pallbearers were Kirby Turner, Brian Valentine, Tater Hawkins, Mike Weeks, Jake Camp and Mike Fowler.

Clara Gray

GRANBURY – Clara Marie Gray, 74, died Monday, July 5, 2010, in Fort Worth. She was born May 10, 1936, in Ashton, Idaho, to Julius and Anna Frankie Garz. She married Jerry Eugene Gray, Jan. 28, 1962, in Ashton, Idaho. She was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church and was active in her community and church. She loved vacation Bible school and participated in the widow's group and the Christian Women's Job Corps. She always enjoyed taking care of her grandsons.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 9, at the Ministry Center at Lakeside Baptist Church. A second memorial service will be scheduled in Fulton.

Survivors include one daughter, Michelle Galloway and husband, Will; grandsons, Forrest Galloway and Ethan Galloway; one sister, Gladys Kraemer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Lakeside Baptist Church Building Fund.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Michael Eugene Gray and two sisters, Margaret Janssen and Alice Carlson.

Vanilee Justice

FULTON – Vanilee Riley Justice, 81, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born Dec. 26, 1928, in Itawamba County to Oscar and Carrie Bell Martin Riley. She was a Baptist in belief. She was retired from Itawamba Manufacturing after numerous years. She loved working in her flowers and garden, doing yard work and quilting. She also loved seeing her great-grandchild, Annsleigh.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 9, at Senter Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Dr. Kenneth Bishop and Rev. Howard Pearce officiating. Burial was in Itawamba Memorial Garden.

Survivors include one son, Tim (Kay) Justice of Fulton; one daughter, Mary (William) King of Fulton; four grandchildren, Gail Pennington of Nashville, Tenn., Angela Holdridge of Hilton Head, S.C., Hollie (Greg) Hayes of Fulton and T.J. Justice of Fulton; three great-grandchildren, Annsleigh Justice, Michael Holdridge and Avery Joseph Breen; one sister, Bettie (Rev. Howard) Pearce of Fulton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Basil Justice and Billy Ray Dillard; six brothers and four sisters.

Pallbearers were T.J. Justice, Greg Hayes, Gary Maxcy and Heath Morris. Bill Wilemon was honorary pallbearer.

Mary Lou Mayhall

IUKA - Dorothy Mary Lou Mayhall, 84, died Friday, July 9, 2010, at the Iuka Hospital. She was born Sept. 9, 1925, in Tishomingo County to Tom and Lee Verlon Lynch Credille.

She was a factory worker and a seamstress. She was a member of Walker Baptist Church.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 11, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Belmont with Bro. David Holcomb officiating. Burial was in Joel Cemetery at Dennis.

Survivors are one daughter, Doris LaVelle Adcock (Omer) of Iuka; two sons, Lee Edward Williams Sr. (Dorothy) of Dennis and Charles Eugene Williams of Golden; 11 grandchildren, Larissa Edwards, Linda Lindley, Rhonda Freeman, Brandon Smith, Lee Edward Williams Jr., Connie Jo White, Johnny Eugene Williams, Amanda Rose Stacy, Michelle Buchanan, Charles Robert Williams and Jason Bradley Williams; 32 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Archie Mayhall and Wilmer Williams; her parents; a grandson, Charles Michael Williams; and a daughter-in-law, Geneva Francis Williams.

Pallbearers were Charles Robert Williams, Jason Bradley Williams, Lee Edward Williams Jr., Brandon Ray Smith, Michael Anthony Lindley, Hollis Buchanan, Jimmy Edwards and Jacob Stewart.

Endie Johnson

PONTOTOC – Endie Spencer Johnson, 99, formerly of Fulton, died Saturday, July 10, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Pontotoc.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 12, at Senter Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Priceville Cemetery.

Senter Funeral Home of Fulton was in charge of arrangements.

Marlene Fleming

FULTON – Marlene Fleming, 78, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at her home in Fulton. She was born Nov. 11, 1931, in Clarksdale to Chester Mayers and Edna McElveen.

There was no service. Lee Memorial Funeral Home assisted the family.

She is survived by her two sons, Wendel Fleming and wife, Mary, and Gene Fleming and wife, Claudia.
