Sentences handed down in Circuit Court

Itawamba County's Circuit Court heard from 19 people during the second October session with all receiving convictions.

n MICHAEL JUSTIN MCCOLLUM, 521 CR 452, Nettleton, entered a plea of guilty to sexual battery (defined/indictment). Judge Jim Pounds sentenced him to 5 years with all 5 years suspended and 5 years probation. He was ordered to pay a fine of $1,000, $100 in restitution plus court costs of $807.50.

n DUSTIN L. ROBERTS, 2016 John Rankin Hwy., Fulton, entered a guilty plea to burglary of a vehicle. Judge James L. Roberts sentenced him to 7 years with all 7 years suspended and 5 years probation.

On a second similar charge, he was sentenced to 7 years with all 7 years suspended. The two sentences are to run concurrent with each other.

He was fined $1,000 plus court cost of $407.50. In addition, he must make restitution of $500.



n JASON BRADLEY COPELAND, 4810 Hopewell-Keys Road, Nettleton, entered a guilty plea to possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. Because he is a habitual offender, Judge Roberts sentenced him to the maximum term of 10 years with 5 years suspended, 5 years to be served and 5 years probation. His time is to run consecutively with Lee County Case number CR06-859.

He was fined $1,000. In addition, he was ordered to pay court costs of $307.50 and make restitution in the amount of $100.00. He is being held in the Itawamba County Jail awaiting transfer.

n CORY LANCE RANDOLPH, 2741 Cobb Stump Rd., Fulton, entered a plea of guilty of grand larceny of an individual (value more than $250). Judge Roberts sentenced him to 10 years with all 10 years suspended.

On a second similar charge, Randolph received a 10 year sentence with 10 years suspended and 5 years probation. He was also ordered to enroll in RID. Randolph was fined $1,000 and ordered to pay court costs of $307.50 and make restitution of $600.

These sentences are to run concurrently with other. On the first charge, Roberts ordered him to make restitution of $1880.20 in addition to paying a fine of $1,000 and court costs of $307.50.

He is currently in the Itawamba County Jail.

n gary cox, Tupelo, entered a plea of guilty of armed robbery, using a deadly weapon. He was sentenced by Judge Roberts to 30 years with 20 years suspended and 10 years to be served. This sentence is to run concurrently with Lee County Case CR08-408.

Cox was fined $1,000 and ordered to pay court costs of $307.50 in addition to making restitution of $250.

He is currently in the Itawamba County Jail awaiting transfer.



n MATTHEW PAUL JACKSON, 183 County Rd. 1411, Nettleton, pleaded guilty to sexual battery (defined/indictment). Judge Roberts sentenced him to 30 years with 25 years suspended and 5 years to be served.

On a second count of the same violation, he received a 30 year sentence with all time suspended. The two sentences are to run concurrently with each other. He was fined $1,000 and ordered to make restitution of $1,000. In addition, he must pay court costs of $272.00.

He is presently in the Itawamba County Jail awaiting transfer.

n DAVID W. MCCOY, 307 Country Village, Fulton, entered a plea of guilty of grand larceny of individual property valued at more than $250. Judge Roberts sentenced him to 10 years with 5 years suspended, 5 years to be served and 5 years probation. He was fined $1,000 and ordered to pay court costs of $507.50. In addition, he must make restitution of $11,770.45.

During his incarceration, he must enter the GED program. McCoy is being held in the Itawamba County Jail awaiting transfer to the restitution center.



n DONALD M. SMITH, 176 Judd Road, Mantachie, entered a guilty plea to controlled substance violations. Judge Pounds sentenced him to 20 years with 12 years suspended, 8 years to be served and 5 years probation.

On a second similar charge with the addition of conspiracy, he was sentenced to 20 years with all 20 years suspended. The two sentences are to run concurrently with each other.

Smith was fined $2,000 plus court costs of $722.50. In addition, he must make restitution of $595. He is currently in the Itawamba County Jail awaiting transfer.



n SHAUN PATRICK BURKE, 91 Main St., Vina, Ala., pleaded guilty to burglary of a dwelling. Judge Pounds sentenced him to 7 years with 2 years suspended and 5 years to be served and 5 years probation. He was fined $1,000 and order to pay court costs of $307.50 in addition to making restitution of $100. He is currently in the Itawamba County Jail awaiting transfer.

n RIVA LESLEY WALLS, 100 Wood Rd., Fulton, pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property. Judge Roberts sentenced her to 10 years with 5 years suspended and 5 years to be served.

She was fined $1,000 and order to pay court costs of $407.50 in addition to making restitution of $100.

n DAVID MATTOX, had his probation revoked on a charge of felony domestic violence. Judge Roberts sentenced him to 10 years with 5 years to be served, 5 years suspended and 5 years probation. Mattox was also ordered to undergo alcohol/drug treatment/testing. He is presently in the Itawamba County Jail awaiting transfer.

n RHONDA GADD, pleaded guilty of possession of precursor chemicals. Judge Pounds sentenced her to 20 years with 17 years suspended and 3 years to be served along with 5 years probation.

On a second charge, Gadd pleaded guilty to conspiracy. This case was retired.

Gadd was fined $1,000 and order to pay court costs of $322.50. In addition, she must make restitution of $135. She is currently in the Itawamba County Jail awaiting transfer.

n CAROLINE NICOLE ROBBINS, Fulton, pleaded guilty to controlled substance violations. Judge Roberts sentenced her to 8 years with all years suspended and 5 years probation. Robbins was fined $1,000 and ordered to pay court costs of $457.50. In addition, she must make restitution of $45.

On a second similar charge, she pleaded guilty and received an 8 year sentence with all time suspended. Robbins was ordered to make restitution of $145 in addition to paying court costs of $507.50.

n TAMMY DAWN FLOYD, 104 Stone St., Fulton, pleaded guilty to arson of a dwelling or outbuilding. Judge Pounds sentenced her to 20 years with 18 years suspended, 2 years to be served and 5 years probation.

She was fined $15,100 plus court costs of $407.50. Floyd is in the Itawamba County Jail awaiting transfer.

n CAROL SHIELDS, 102 Leigh St., Columbus, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Judge Pounds sentenced her to 20 years with 16 years suspended, 4 years to be served and 5 years probation.

She was ordered to make restitution of $18,718 and pay court costs of $507.50. She is currently in the Itawamba County Jail.

n RACHEL THOMAS, 1680 Mt. Pisgah Rd., Mantachie, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Judge Roberts sentenced her to 10 years with 10 years suspended and 5 years probation.

She received a $1,000 fine. In addition, she must pay court costs of $507.50 and make $100 restitution.



n STEVEN LINDSEY, Nettleton, pleaded guilty to controlled substance violations. Judge Roberts sentenced him to 8 years with all time suspended. This sentence is to run concurrent with Lee County Case CR08-116.

Lindsey received a $1,000 fine and was ordered to pay court costs of $322.50 and make restitution of $145.

n SHERRY DILL, 26250 Hwy. 23 N., Golden, pleaded guilty to possession of precursor chemicals of a controlled substance. Judge Roberts sentenced her to 20 years with 18 years 6 months suspended and 1 year 6 months to be served. Her sentence is to run concurrent with Monroe County Case CR06-115.

She received a $1,000 fine in addition to being ordered to pay $322.50 in court costs. Dill is currently in the Itawamba County Jail awaiting transfer.

n JEREMIA SCOTT NICHOLS, 405 W. Mattox St., Fulton, pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact. Judge Roberts sentenced him to 5 years with 5 years suspended and 5 years probation.

Nichols was fined $1,000 and ordered to make restitution of $100 and pay court costs of $407.50.

n JONI L. CLARK, 710 Garrison St., pleaded guilty to grand larceny of individual property valued at more than $250. Judge Roberts sentenced her to 10 years with 10 years suspended and 5 years probation.

Clark received a $1,000 fine and was ordered to make restitution of $763.99 and pay court costs of $372.50.
