Harvey Keith

EGGVILLE - Harvey Keith, 59, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, in Itawamba County. He was born June 13, 1950, in Pontotoc to Vester and Rosie Lee Keith. He was a retired supervisor for Tupelo Public Works Department, where he was employed for 31 years. He was a Baptist. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, feeding his chickens and dogs, and just being outdoors. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchild.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dempsey Roland officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Theresa Keith of Eggville; three children, Tanja (T.J.) Denson and Ron of Mantachie, Teanna Thompson of Pontotoc, and George R. Keith and Angela of Brewer; his mother-in-law, Imotean Morris of Mantachie; six grandchildren, B.J. Cox, Nikki (Michael) McMillen, Savannah Denson, Sommer Denson, Rosalee Pyle and George Allen Keith; one great-grandchild, Drew McMillen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Anna Lee Tutor and Mary Elizabeth Keith; one nephew, Donald Glen Tutor; and one niece, Cynthia (C. J.) Tutor.

Pallbearers were Billy Hughes, Nathan C. Hughes II, Joey Thompson, Danny Rock, Red Keith and James Harold Keith.

Betty Scott

MANTACHIE - Betty Scott, 70, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009, at her residence after an extended illness. A native of Illinois, she was born Aug. 10, 1939, to John and Ethel Hall Powell. She moved to the Tupelo area when she married her husband, Wayne Scott. She had lived in Mantachie the past 10 years. She worked for Dudie's Diner a number of years and later at Blue Bell Manufacturing. She also managed a laundry mat at Verona for 10 years. She enjoyed playing bingo and word puzzles. Along with her husband, she was active in the American Legion of Aberdeen.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Danny Horton officiating. Burial was in Union Grove Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Wayne Scott of Mantachie; her daughter, Misty Veal (Joey) of Mantachie; four sons, Greg Scott (Bonnie) of Mooreville, Larry Scott (Teresa) of Mooreville, Rodney Scott (Kathy) of Saltillo and Tim Scott (Misty) of Mooreville; 14 grandchildren, Brad Scott, Andrea Elder, Ashley Scott, Anthony Morris, Laken Scott, Paige Scott, Jessica Scott, Sean Scott, Gabrielle Scott, Christopher Scott, Joshua Veal, Michael Veal, and Elizabeth and Dayton Eubanks; three great-grandchildren, Colby Elder, Breana Elder and Hannah Glover; one brother, Eugene Bright of Florida; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Mark Scott; and one sister and two brothers.

Pallbearers were Randy Cates, T.C. Hubbard, Michael Harris, Jerry Harris, Scotty Harris and Michael Dodd

Irene Kimbrough

TUPELO - Irene Kimbrough 82, died Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at her home. She retired from Air Cap Industries in 1993. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Verona.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Robinson officiating. Burial was in Prentiss Gardens.

She is survived by one son, Larry Kimbrough of Mantachie; one brother, J.C. Dees of Booneville; one grandchild, Matt Kimbrough of Atlanta, Ga.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Kimbrough, and a brother, Roy Dees.

Pallbearers were Robby Kimbrough, Andy Kimbrough, Ronny Kimbrough, Richie Kimbrough, Joey Kimbrough, Chris Kimbrough, Steve Altom and Ted Ferguson.

Edward Miles

FULTON - Thomas Edward Miles, 87, died Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at The Courtyards in Fulton. He was born April 20, 1924, in Winfield, Ala., to Thomas Alexander and Bessie Mae Hawkins Miles. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Primitive Baptist Church. He worked as a die setter at Day-Brite Lighting.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, at Senter Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Deaton officiating. Burial was in Bourland Cemetery.

Survivors include one daughter, Jane Bailey of Fulton; one grandson, Trae Bailey of Fulton; and one sister, Marcel Mae Hughes of Marietta, Ga.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Alice Pennington Miles; one daughter, Betty Joan Spencer; and four brother, Uriel Miles, J.L. Miles, Denver Miles and Leburn Miles.

Michael Joe Thrasher

MANTACHIE - Michael Joe Thrasher, 56, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Lee County native, he was born Oct. 30, 1953, to Rubel and Jewel Mae Dill Thrasher. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church. He loved spending time with his wife and enjoyed animals.

Graveside services were held 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, at Fellowship Cemetery with the Rev. Danny Robbins officiating. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors was in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Hattie Payne Thrasher of Mantachie; four sisters, Janice Marie Childers (Steven), Gloria Jean Thrasher, Stella Louise Bryant (Larry) and Patty Ann Edge (Clem); three brothers, Daniel Thomas Thrasher (Freida), Roger Dale Thrasher and Christopher Howard Thrasher.

Pallbearers were David Payne Jr., Brandon Reynolds, Stephen Childers, Corey Crenshaw, Cody Cruise and Clinton Edge.

Kevin Stegall

FULTON - Kevin Stegall, 36, died Friday, Nov. 27, 2009. He was born on Sept. 25, 1973, in Amory to L.B. and Ludy Stegall.

Services were held Tuesday, Dec. 8, at 2 p.m. at St. Matthews M.B. Church in Fulton with Pastor Charles Berry officiating. Burial was in Shiloh Cemetery in Fulton. N.L. Jones Funeral Home of Tupelo was in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of seven years, Lameka Stegall of Tupelo; a stepson, Stephon Bean of the home; four children, Jordan Stegall and Jevante Stegall, both of Fulton, and Tatyana and Synetta Stegall, both of Dorsey; two sisters, Tiffany Stegall of Fulton and Tracy Ashby (Paul) of Tupelo; two brothers, Steven Stegall of Fulton and Levert Jones; and his grandparents, Sylvan and Annie Dale Stegall of Fulton.
