Acting on a tip, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics agents arrested two Itawamba County men Friday in connection with the seizure of approximately 12 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $24,000, according to MBN Director Marshall Fisher.

Agents charged 22-year-old Harvey Jake Childers of Golden — formerly of Hamilton, Ala. — with possession of marijuana with intent to sell or distribute and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

And they charged 19-year-old Josh Shewbart of Fulton with conspiracy to possess marijuana. Officers also seized an automatic weapon and $470 in cash.

The drug suspects were transported to the Itawamba County Detention Center. Bonds have not been set. U.S. postal inspectors, the Mississippi Highway Patrol, Itawamba County Sheriff’s Department and Fulton Police Department assisted the MBN in the investigation.
