Minnie Foster

FULTON - Minnie Lee Kelly Horton Foster, 89, died Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, at the Courtyards Nursing Home. She was born Aug. 10, 1920, in Lee County to Simon Peter and Alma McMillen Kelly. She worked for Blue Bell Manufacturing in Fulton for many years, Aaron Controls in Zion, Ill., National Men's and Ladies' Clothing, and One Hour Martinizing in Tupelo as an alterations seamstress. After retiring, she loved cooking Sunday meals for her family and friends, and working in her yard and garden. She was a devout Christian and loved watching W39CD TV daily.

Services were held at 1 p. m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Kenneth Davidson officiating. Burial was in the Union Grove Cemetery.

Survivors include one son, Thomas Wayne Horton (Donna) of Fulton; one daughter-in-law, Ruby Horton of Tupelo; two granddaughters, Kristi Lee Bruno (Tony) of Maple Grove, Minn., and Tami James (Ronald) of Saltillo; two great-grandchildren, Alexander Thomas Bruno and Katherine Amanda Bruno; and a special cousin, Janet McMillen.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Leepel G. Horton and Jesse Wade Foster; one son, Leo D. Horton; her parents; her twin sister, Linnie Mae Heatherly (Cleveland); a half brother, Troy Lee Donald; and a half sister, Rena Mae Donald Stevens.

Pallbearers included Bonner Heatherly and Dean Coker.

Charles Rock

MOOREVILLE - Charles E. Rock, 58, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. A lifelong resident of Mooreville, he was born Jan. 30, 1951, in Arkansas to L.D. and Mildred Christian Rock. An accomplished cabinet maker, he was the owner of Rock's Cabinet Shop. He served in the Mississippi National Guard. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his four-wheeler, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. Allen Gullick officiating. Burial was in the Friendship Cemetery at Peppertown.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Rock of Mooreville; one son, Tim Rock (Nickey) of the Auburn community; two daughters, Patty White (Kenneth) and Melissa Cummings (Rusty), both of Mooreville; his parents, L.D. and Mildred Rock of Mooreville; three brothers, Kenneth Rock Sr. (Janet) and Mike Rock Sr. (Esther), both of Saltillo, and Jackie Rock (Sue) of Mooreville; six grandchildren, Katie Rock, Gracie Rock, Crimson Rock, Tanner Gray, Laken Cummings and Rock Cummings; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Kenny Rock Jr., Michael Rock Jr., Roy Rock, Junior Rock, Dustin Smith and Tony Dickerson.

Blanche Meeks

TIPLERSVILLE - Blanche Marie Patrick Meeks, 89, died Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, at her son's home in Tiplersville. She was a homemaker and a member of the Tiplersville Church of Christ.

Services were at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at McBride Funeral Home Chapel in Ripley with Minister Jerry Owen and Minister Garry Martin officiating. Burial was in the Tiplersville Cemetery.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Cook (David) of Ripley; five sons, Dr. Ralph Meeks (Margaret) of Washington Crossing, Pa., Eddy Meeks (Marcia) of Walnut, Dr. Jimmy Meeks (Judy) of Tiplersville, Dr. Rudy Meeks (Joan) of Jackson, Tenn., and Danny Meeks (Lisa) of Tiplersville; 22 grandchildren, Sharon Rook, Carol Steele (Jonathan), Patrick Meeks, Jason Meeks (Lisa), Melissa Meeks, Emily Meeks, Tricia Matthews (Bryan), John Meeks (Jessica), Richard Meeks (Lydia), Lisa Hall (Kevin), Jessie Meeks (Amber), Neal Meeks (Jackie), Ben Meeks, Sarah Harrington (Jonathan), Lee Meeks (Stephanie), Ryan Meeks, Erica Pennington (Andy), Bethany Meeks, Jenny Thompson (Justin), Anna Cook, Libby Meeks and Landon Meeks; 18 great-grandchildren, Nacy Rook, Aiden Steele, Mary Lib Steele, Kimberly Matthews, Karley Matthews, Keaton Matthews, Jayla Meeks, Josie Meeks, Tuesday Hall, Liam Hall, Mackenzie Meeks, Erin Meeks, Brandon Meeks, Ethan Meeks, Kyla Meeks, Abby Meeks and Elle Pennington.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie LeRoy "Roy" Meeks; one son, Dr. Doyle Meeks; her parents, James Henry and Annie Lenora Shappley Patrick; one sister, Ima Patrick Jackson; and five brothers, James Adolphus, Jewel, Gordon, Ned and Raymond Patrick.

Benny Bean

OPELIKA, Ala. - Benny Ray Bean, 62, died Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, at Bethany House in Auburn, Ala., after a brief illness.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at the Okolona Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Paul Whaley officiating. Burial was in Boone's Chapel Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Summers Bean of Opelika, Ala.; two sons, Scott Bean and wife, Lori, of Harvest, Ala., and Jason Bean of Gulf Shores, Ala.; his grandchildren, Taylor and Marli Bean; his brothers, Henry L. Bean (Linda) of Sharpsburg, Ga., Donald W. Bean (Marcie) of Lagrange, Ga., and Robert D. Bean of Fort Wayne, Ind.; his sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Beasley (J.W.) and Brenda Summers, all of Fulton; his nieces and nephews, Barbara Morykwas (Michael), Chris Bean (Danielle), Shaun Bean and Rhonda Esp (Art).
