Judy King

BOONEVILLE - Judy Ann King, 60, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo after an extended illness.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel in Booneville with Bro. Tim Blakney officiating. Burial was in the Smith Chapel Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Ray King; her parents, Luther ad Virginia Nichols Whitley; two sons, Randy King (Cara) and Kendall King (Tabitha), all of Booneville; two sisters, Bobbie Hughes (Carlie) of Fulton and Helen Adams (Ricky) of Booneville; one brother, Luke Whitley of Booneville; six grandchildren, Miranda Clark, Jonathan King, Holly King, Cassie Gray, Jesse King and Jake King; two great-grandchildren, Landon and Aubrie Clark; three sisters-in-laws, Marca Kendrick, Margie George and Guinn Creekmore; one brother-in-law, David King (Gayla); and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, James Rodney King.

Shirley Kimmins

GOLDEN - Shirley M. Kimmins, 82, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, at her residence. She was born March 19, 1927, in Chicago to John and Edna Peterson Andersen. She was retired from General Motors.

Survivors are two sons, John B. Kimmins of Spring, Texas, and Bill Kimmins (Belinda) of Golden; five grandchildren, Tina Stokes and Amanda Kimmins, both of Michigan, Jason Meyers (Debi) of Singer Island, Fla., Derek Jackson (Jennifer) of Rienzi and Lauren Hope Jackson of Golden; two great-grandchildren, Kameron Jackson and K.B. Jackson; a sister-in-law, Jean Anderson of San Jose, Calif.; a cousin, Amy Henderson of Rensselaer, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Kimmins; her parents; and a brother, John Andersen.

Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay, Ala., was in charge of arrangements.

Joy Pannell

NEW ALBANY – Joy Ray McCollum Pannell, 72, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, at the North Mississippi Medical Center.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at United Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. John Staggs officiating. Burial was in Glenfield Memorial Park.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Pannell; two daughters, Denise Davis and Kathy Williams (Ed, all of New Albany; grandchildren, Justin (Jennifer), Christopher and Benjamin, all of New Albany; one great-granddaughter, Isabella, of New Albany; one stepson, Randy Pannell (Johnnie) of Dorsey; four stepdaughters, Sherry Treadaway (Tony), Diane Pannell, Sandra Gailor (Tim) and Robin Delashmit (Craig), all of New Albany; 11 stepgrandchildren, eight stepgreat-grandchildren; one niece, Jennifer Byars (Wade) of Carrollton; two great-nieces, Torie and Tabby; one great-nephew, Clint.

Sue Miller

AMORY - Mada Sue Harden Miller, 95, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, at the Oak Tree Plantation in Amory. She was born April 3, 1914, in Fulton to Thomas Daniel and Bertie Clayton Harden.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Friday. August 21, at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Rev. Warren Coile, Rev. Steven Keen and Rev. Rosa Lee Harden officiating. Burial was in the Masonic Cemetery.

Survivors include two sisters, Elaine H. Rucker of Mentor, Ohio, and Ouida H. Nylen of Birmingham; three nephews, Ken Harden of Carrboro, N.C., Howard Nylen of Birmingham and Greg Harden of Keller, Texas; and seven nieces, Judi Harden Horne of Amory, Rubye Del Harden of Tupelo, Louise Nylen Dodd of Roseland, Va., Suzanne Rucker of Chapel Hill, N.C., Linda Rucker Corbett of Mentor, Ohio, Rosa Lee Harden of San Francisco, Calif., and Karen Harden Wirt of Stillwater, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; three brothers, Delmus C., Richard K. and Lannan C. Harden; and one nephew, Clay Harden.

M.C. Clemons

FULTON – M.C. Clemons, 96, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, at the Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. He was a member of St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church. A retired employee of the City of Fulton, he loved gardening and sharing what he produced with family and friends. He loved playing his harmonica and his guitar. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army on Dec. 13, 1945.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, August 25, at St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church in Fulton with Rev. Charles Berry officiating. Burial with military honors was in Shilo Cemetery in Fulton under the direction of Grayson-Porter’s Mortuary.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Oddie Mae Clemons; three children, Gloria Clark and her husband, George, of Smithville, Mack Clemons and his wife, Betty, of Fulton, and Roger Clemons and his wife, Paulette, of Flint, Mich.; two brothers, O.B. Clemons of Arkansas and Ostrich Clemons of Flint; eight grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends; and the community in which he lived.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Clemons and Georgie McDonald Clemons; eight brothers; nine sisters; and one grandson.

Pallbearers were Sgt. Alex Clark, Master Sgt. Stephven Clemons, Hayward Lee Wilson, Willie Holley, Tony Clark and Rogers McKinney.

Honorary pallbearers were O.B. Clemons, Ostrich Clemons, William Milner and Johnnie Young.

James E. Lewis

FULTON – James Edward Lewis, 77, died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, at the Northeast Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born Aug. 16, 1932, in Itawamba County to Floyd and Tula Adams Lewis. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and Fairview Masonic Lodge #457. He retired from Day-Brite Lighting where he worked in maintenance. He was a U.S. veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict as a military policeman in the Panama Canal Zone from 1953-1955. He was an avid fisherman and gardener.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 25, at Senter Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Martin Jameson and Bro. Tracy McMillen officiating.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Kathleen Johnson Lewis; two daughters, Janet Graham (Johnny) and Lori Gray (Jeff), both of Fulton; one son, Jim Lewis (Chris) of Fulton; his grandchildren, John Graham (Brandy), Amber Ramirez (Luis), Josh Graham, Matt Lewis, Blake Thompson (Ryan), Alisha Kent (Nicky) and Ceburn Gray; his great-grandchildren, to whom he was Pawnanas, Hope, Braden, Kylee, Megan, Graham and Jaycee; one sister, Gola Wayne Earnest of Tupelo; a host of nieces and nephews; and his special friend, his pet dog Otis.

Pallbearers were Billy Trotter, Bill Howell, Chip Prestage, Macky Nichols, Jerry Summers, Doyle Johnson, Huey Johnson, Jon Tatum and Glenn Reeder. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Faith Keepers Sunday school class.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Eunie Lewis; a great-grandson, Grayson Wiygul Kent; a brother-in-law, Lee Earnest; a sister, Nellie Fern Lewis; a stepbrother, Nick Jarrell; a nephew, Michael Dees; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ethel and Mannie Johnson.

Memorial donations may be made to the Sanctuary Fund of Bethel Baptist Church, 445 Bethel Church Road, Fulton MS 38843.

Norma Sue Harris

BELMONT – Norma Sue Harris, 74, died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, at Baptist Hospital in Booneville. She was born Aug. 4, 1935, in Itawamba County to H.A. and Jewel Williams Grissom.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay, Ala., with Bro. Gene Cooley officiating. Burial was in Halltown Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay was in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by two daughters, Debra Childers (Jeffrey) of Savannah, Tenn., and Sherri Barnett (Allen) of Lake Cormorant; one son, Jason Harris (Shelia) of Belmont; one stepdaughter, Sylvia Harris of Fairview; two sisters, Nedra Daws of Gainesville, Ga., and Wanda Hamm (Tilmon) of Red Bay; five grandchildren, Robin Deatherage (Gary), Eric Massey (Amy), Jeffrey Childers II (Patricia), Ethan Harris and Emily Harris; three great-grandchildren, Carter Deatherage, Kevin Childers and Isaiah-Reese Deatherage; and several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

Polly Klaesen

FULTON – Sarah Pauline “Polly” Klaesen, 65, died Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at the North Mississippi medical Center after a short illness. She was born Jan. 26, 1944, in Rome, Ga., to Samuel Newton and Bessie Pauline Touchstone Youngblood. She traveled to various places with the amusement park industry in her early years. She later worked at Itawamba Manufactoruing Co. and cooked in various restaurants. She loved to cook and she enjoyed playing bingo.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, August 26, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Phil Benton officiating. Burial will be in the Tilden Community Cemetery.

Survivors include one daughter, Maria Klaesen of Valley, Ala.; one daughter-in-law, Lynn Klaesen of Fulton; one stepson, Rudy Junior Klaesen; two brothers, J. Max Youngblood of Birmingham, Ala., and Samuel Newton Youngblood Jr. of Guin, Ala.; one sister, Patsy Ann Gann of Birmingham, Ala.; eight grandchildren, Matthew Klaesen, Mikayla Klaesen, Marty Klaesen, Bubba, Dalton, Hayden, Jackie and Sharron; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Randy Klaesen; a brother, Guy Youngblood; and her parents.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Laverne Pharr

GOLDEN - Laverne Taylor Pharr, 77, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, at North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born April 27, 1932, in Itawamba County to Dewey Lexter and Edna Tallant Taylor. She was retired from Golden Manufacturing. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 22, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Belmont with Bro. David Kelley and Bro. James Herman Gray officiating. Burial was in Old Bethel Cemetery in Golden.

Survivors are her husband of 57 years, Herbert G. Pharr of Golden; three sons, Herbert Dean Pharr and Dennis Gene Pharr, both of Golden, and Dale Lesley Pharr (Sandra) of Belmont; four sisters, Edath McDowell of Sherman, Nadine Waddle of Fulton, and Betty Lindsey and Cathy McAlister, both of Golden; three brothers, Paul Taylor of Liberty, Leland Taylor of Sherman and Troyce James Taylor of Golden; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson and a daughter-in-law.

Pallbearers were her nephews, Jerry Lindsey, Terry Lindsey, Darrell Mitchell, Dudley Waddle, James McDowell and Jimmy McDowell. Honorary pallbearers were David Mitchell and Derek Pharr.

Karen Guth

TREMONT - Karen Guth, 53, died Monday, August 24, 2009, at her home. Services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, August 27, at Senter Funeral Home. Visitation will be today, Wednesday, August 26, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
