Marcus Nabers

BELDEN - Marcus Jerome Nabers, 31, died Thursday, July 30, 2009. He was born Feb. 13, 1978, in New Albany. He had worked in steel building construction and most recently was employed by Ashley Furniture. He was a member of Water Brook Baptist Church.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, at United Funeral Service Chapel in New Albany with Rev. Steve Denton and Rev. Charlie Ganey officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.

Survivors include his daughter, Chelsey Nabers of Thaxton; his mother and stepfather, Sherry and James O'Connell of the Endville community; his father, Joe Dixon of Mantachie; two sisters, Jennifer Mirandez of California and Courtney Tate of Ecru; his half brother, Richard Walls of Endville community; and his fiancee, Angie Allen of Sherman.

Jack Frost

ZION, Ill. - Lowell “Jack” Frost, 86, died Tuesday, August 4, 2009, at his home.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at Congdon Funeral Home in Zion with Rodney Johnson officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Memorial Park in Zion.

Survivors include a son, Tommy Frost of Alabama; three special children, Darlene Newman of Zion, Greg Frost (Cony) of Surprise, Ariz., and Mike Frost of Pleasant Prairie, Wisc.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Randy L. Russell

TUPELO – Randy L. Russell, 45, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2009, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born Oct. 6, 1963, in Hayti, Mo. He was a car dealer.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at The Orchard in Tupelo with Brian Collier and Randy Cruse officiating. Burial was in Lee Memorial Park. Senter Funeral Home of Fulton was in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Suzanne Summers Russell of Tupelo; his mother, Barbara Harville (Jesse) of Hernando; his father, Harvey Russell of Plantersville; his daughter, Megan Russell of Tupelo; his grandchildren, Macy Lynn, Maggie Mae, Mason, Taylor and Alexis; a stepdaughter, Stephanie Littrell; a stepson, Craig Waddle (Bree) of Guntown; six sisters, Terry Houston (Glenn) and Missy Archer (Jody), both of Olive Branch, Penni Rhett (Robert) of Columbus, Amy Williamson (James), Sandy Day (Jamie) and Morgan Russell, all of Plantersville; one brother, Chance Russell of Plantersville; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Glenn Houston, Robert Rhett, Jody Archer, James Williamson, Jamie Day, Rob Blankenship, David Tate and Ron Turner. Honorary pallbearers were the staff of Harvey Russell Autoworld.

Harold Hill

FULTON - Harold Hill, 77, died Saturday, August 8, 2009, at his residence. He was born Oct. 24, 1931, in Mantachie to the late Lawrence and Vance Cummings Hill. He was a Baptist and served in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War. He was a supervisor for Genesco, TriState Lumber and Dura Crates until he retired.

Services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, August 10, at Senter Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bobby Jarrell and Ricky Lesley officiating. Burial was in Itawamba Memorial Garden. Senter Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Fanny Hill; two sons, Mike Hill (Shauna) and Darrell Hill; one grandson, Hunter Hill; three grandchildren, Leanna Hughes (Justin) and Megan and Alley Hill; one great-grandson, Jevan Cade Hughes, all of Fulton; and one brother, Huel Hill of Mobile, Ala.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Melba Brown.

Pallbearers were Don Loden, Gerald Lesley, Buddy Stovall, Dale Lesley, Wayne Lesley, Jimmy Brown and Jerry Stovall.

Truda Rhyne

FULTON – Truda Nell Rhyne, 78, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009. She was born Sept. 4, 1930, in Itawamba County to Willie Mac and Sula Francis Williams West. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Fulton. She had a tremendous love for her family, her friends, her pastor and her church family. She enjoyed cooking, fishing and playing Rook.

Services were Thursday, Aug. 6, at Senter Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tim Winters, Bro. Dwight Faulkenbery and Bro. Curtis Shelton officiating. Burial was in Harden Chapel Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Wayne (Gale) Rhyne of Mantachie and Timothy (Connie) Rhyne of Fulton; three daughters, Betty Jean (Bo) Young of Fulton, Sue (Wayne) Kemp of Mantachie and Kathy (Gary) Graham of Fulton; one sister, Dolly Waters of Fulton; three sisters-in-law, Helen West of Shannon, Jesse West of St. Louis, Mo., and Ozell West of Tupelo; 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Rhyne; a sister, Ruby Rollins; five brothers, Trenton, Herman, Stanley, William and George West; and one great-grandson, Andrew Rhyne.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Thomas Carrithers

RED BAY, Ala. – Thomas Arthur Carrithers, 86, died Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at Huntsville Hospital.

Services were at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at Whitehouse Church of Christ with Bro. Byron Longcrier and Bro. Phillip Barnett officiating. Burial was in Whitehouse Church of Christ Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home of Belmont was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors are his wife, Elvie Carrithers of Red Bay, Ala.; one daughter, Dessie McClure (Buddy) of Winthrop Harbor, Ill.; one stepson, Cline Credille (Jo) of Dennis; one stepdaughter, Jeanette Cagle (Charles) of Brilliant, Ala.; three sisters, Faye Thorne and Bobbie Bostick, both of Belmont, and Hassie Slayton of Golden; 11 grandchildren, Joseph Carrithers, Stephan Tucker, Jamie Eaton, Debra Ferguson, Renita Harrison, Renee Pafford, Chris Cagle, Ginger Cagle, Paula Acker, Scott Garrard and David Garrard; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Junior Brumley

FULTON – Junior Ray Brumley, 70, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009, at his residence. He was born Nov. 12, 1938, in Itawamba County to Sullivan and Ora Randolph Brumley. He was a security guard for 16 years.

Services were held at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Belmont with Bro. Clifton Jarrell officiating. Burial was in Saucer Creek Cemetery.

Survivors are his wife of 44 years, Lorine Timbs Brumley of Fulton; one brother-in-law; four sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Eddie Brumley.

Pallbearers were Mark Brumley, Ken Brumley, Dwight White, Bobby West, Donald Petty and Harmon Davis.

Carolyn Smith

MANTACHIE – Carolyn W. Smith, 72, died Saturday, August 8, 2009, at her residence. She was born Sep. 7, 1936, in Itawamba County to Loyce and Faye Davis Wallace. She was a member of the Shiloh United Methodist Church, a factory worker and a homemaker. She enjoyed riding around the area with her husband.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Rev. Ronnie Goodwin and Rev. Bobby Hankins officiating. Burial was in the Center Star Cemetery. McNeece Morris Funeral Home of Mantachie was in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Bobby Gene Smith; one daughter, Sandra S. Bowden (Buddy), both of Mantachie; one brother, Bobby D. Wallace of Fulton; a sister-in-law, Geraldine Orsborn (Nelson) of Mantachie; two special aunts, Jo Ann Mencer (George) of Baldwyn and Margaret Williams of Southaven; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Pallbearers were Scotty Davis, Sid Williams, George Mencer, Anthony Thompson, Robert Wooldridge and Michael Wooldridge.

Christeen Reeves

FULTON - Christeen Reeves, 71, died Saturday, August 8, 2009, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born January 22, 1938, in Fulton to the late Earlie and Emma Guntharp West. She was a factory worker and a seamstress. She was a member of the Pine Grove Church of Christ.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, August 10, at Senter Funeral Home Chapel with Marshall Eubanks and Jeremy Pierce officiating. Burial was in Itawamba Memorial Garden. Senter Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Roger Doyle Reeves; one son, Kevin Reeves (Robyn Justice) of Raleigh, N.C.; one daughter, Rachelle Plunkett (Freddy) of Fulton; grandchildren, Kelsie, Kory and Kaitlyn Plunkett and Courtney Reeves; one brother, Carl West (Erma) of Fulton; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Tommy Myrl West, Jimmie West and an infant brother.

Pallbearers were Steve Johnson, Jimmy Tucker, Jimmy Webb, Sammy Hill, Carl Gaddy and Romie Wilemon.

Devin Smith

MANTACHIE – Devin Craig Smith, 19, died Friday, August 7, 2009, at the North Mississippi Medical Center as the result from injuries suffered from a four-wheeler accident. He was born May 1, 1990, in Tupelo to Craig and Sherry Freeman Smith. He was a member of Boguefala Baptist Church in Mooreville. He was a 2008 graduate of Mantachie High School, where he played football and baseball. He attended Itawamba Community College. He enjoyed bow hunting, duck hunting and fishing.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, at McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. David Perry officiating. Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Survivors include his parents, Craig and Sherry Smith of Mantachie; one sister, Tori Smith of the home; his grandparents, Stanley and Fay Smith, and Judy Freeman; his great grandmother, Ruby Reynolds; one uncle, Brett Freeman, all of Mantachie.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James Freeman.

Pallbearers were Austin Thompson, Bradley Adams, Wes Weaver, Tyler Gordon, Dustin Whitaker, Ben Wallace, Michael Dickinson, Marty Dickinson, Dustin Tutor and Jason Guin.
