FULTON – Harvey Wayne Cummings, 67, died suddenly Friday, June 26, 2009, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born Jan. 9, 1942, in Itawamba County to Harvey Clifford and Vivian Maxine Pearson Cummings. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving nine years. He retired as a supervisor from the power plant industry in Indiana. After retirement, he moved back to Fulton 12 years ago. He was an accomplished woodworker and gardener. He was a licensed pilot and enjoyed building motorized model airplanes.
Services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 28, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Charles Holcomb officiating. Burial was in Itawamba Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Cummings of Fulton; one son, Harvey Wayne Cummings Jr. (Dolly), and one daughter, Holly Christine Mayfield (Earnest), all of Texas; three sisters, Helen Taylor of Fulton, Hazel Hendrick (Donald) of Golden and Linda Moore (Jerry) of Fulton.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers were Richard Allen Beam Jr., Tony Taylor, Jeffery Lee Shumpert, Bud Spencer, Ray Spencer, Jim Spencer and Dennis Spencer.
Buddy Moore
FULTON – Nolan A. “Buddy” Moore , 82, died Sunday, June 21, 2009, at The Courtyards Nursing Home in Fulton. He was born June 24, 1926, to Shelby and Irene Moore. He was a member of the Center Star Methodist Church. He worked 13 years at Penn Tire. He did carpenter work. He enjoyed trading livestock and flea markets. He last worked at the Mississippi Forestry Commission, retiring at age 72.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Buddy Rushing officiating. Burial was in the Friendship Cemetery.
Survivors include three sons, Danny Moore of Mantachie, Nolan “Keith” Moore (Cheryl) and Buddy Moore Jr., all of Peppertown; one daughter, Wanda Kyle (James) of Dorsey; one brother, Kenneth Moore (Mary) of Tupelo; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Grady Lou Moore, in May 2002; one grandson, Mark Wayne Gholston; and his parents.
Pallbearers were his grandsons and friends.
William Earl Jones
FULTON – William Earl Jones, 79, died Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born May 4, 1930, to Walter and Rader Barnes Jones. He was a factory worker and also worked at F.L. Crane and Sons. He was a Baptist.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Grady Davidson officiating. Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Fulton.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Jones of Fulton; four sons, Johnny Jones (Tina) of Saltillo, Roger Jones (Vaness) of North Carolina, James Jones (Lucy) of Wisconsin and Mike Jones of Saltillo; two daughters, Judy Knipp (Greg) of Illinois and Mary Jones of Saltillo; two sisters, Evon and Rethie; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Zeke Christensen
FULTON – Ezekiel Thomas “Zeke” Christensen, 9, died Sunday, June 21, 2009, at Trace Regional Hospital in Houston. He was born March 18, 2000, in Tupelo. He attended Pine Grove Church of Christ. He was a student at Itawamba Middle School. He loved his music and his family.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 27, at Senter Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Minister Jeremy Pierce officiating. Burial was in Union Grove Cemetery.
Survivors include his father, Howard Christensen Jr. of Houlka; his mother, Lynette D. LeClair Christensen of Fulton; one brother, Eliah Christensen, and one sister, Emery Christensen, both of the home; his grandparents, Howard (Ann) Christensen Sr. of Long Beach, Jim (Margaret) LeClair of Fulton; aunts, Rhonda Whaley, Deann Pepito, Crystal Morris, Cynthia Mayhall and Priscilla Henry; uncle, Tony (Amanda) LeClair; and a host of cousins.
Arlie Wright
TREMONT – Arlie Nicholas Wright, 2 months, died Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center in Memphis. He was born April 7, 2009, in Birmingham, Ala., to George Ardell and Brandy Lane Burroughs Wright.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, at Red Bay Holy Church of Christ with Bro. Kenny Finlayson officiating. Burial was in Shady Valley Cemetery. Senter Funeral Home of Fulton was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his parents, George and Brandy Wright of Tremont; one brother, Isiah Wright, and two sisters, Kamron and Kaitlyn Wright, all of the home; his grandparents, Brenda and Daniel Johnson of Tremont, David and Margie Burroughs of Guntown, Jennie Maki of Fulton and Bob (Raygina) Wright of Dorsey; his great-grandparents, Alice Maki, Mavline Bennett and Clara Mae Burroughs.
Ray W. Barber
FULTON – Ray Wendell Barber, 79, died Friday, June 26, 2009, at the Dogwood Plantation in Fulton. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher. He retired from Knight Brothers Furniture. He was a big dog handler and served as secretary of the Natchez Trace Beagle Club.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 29, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Dr. Don Baggett and Bro. Buddy Rushing officiating. Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Barber, of Fulton; one son, Mike Barber of Peaceful Valley; one daughter, Nan Jernigan (Jerry) of Lake Butler, Fla.; one stepson, Rick Smith (Cynthia) of Fulton; one sister, Thelma Knight, of Mantachie; four grandchildren, Chris Barber, Becky Graham, Erica Parrish and Jessica Simpson; two step grandchildren, Leigh Smith and Jason Smith; four great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Barber; his parents, Shelby Reginal and Tennie Lou Beene Barber; one stepson, Larry Smith; and his daughter-in-law, Patty Barber.

Sudie Mae Pettigo
SALTILLO – Sudie Mae Pettigo, 76, of the Hebron community, died Friday, June 26, 2009, at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 29, at the Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Wesley Kingsley officiating. Burial was in the Eggville Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 60 years, James Andrew Pettigo of the Hebron community; three daughters, Sue Martin of Springhill community, Elsie Pettigo of Mantachie and Shelia Hall of the Hebron community; two sons, Prentiss Pettigo and wife, Charlotte, of Saltillo and James L. Pettigo of Mooreville; two sisters, Geneva Pearson and Mittie Smith, both of Saltillo; one brother, James Lyons of Saltillo; sisters-in-law, Delois West of the Ballarsville community, Lois Pettigo of Arkansas, Clara Mae Pettigo of Piggott, Ark., Sallie Pettigo of St. Charles, Ill., Carol Pettigo of Lombardi, Ill.; two brothers-in-law, Thomas Jefferson Pettigo of Piggott, Ark., and Dewy Edward Pettigo of Columbus; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; special friend, Martha Dean Saylors and her daughter, Carol M. Wilma F. Black
DORSEY – Wilma Flanagin Black, 71, died Friday, June 26, 2009, at the Sanctuary Hospice House. She was born Nov. 4, 1937, to Yancie and Fannie Barnes. She was a member of the Dorsey Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, sang specials and loved working with the children in the nursery. She worked at Reed’s Manufacturing and retired from North Mississippi Regional Center.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 28, at the Dorsey Baptist Church with Bro. Danny Rushing and Bro. Jerry Estes officiating. Burial was in the Dorsey Memorial Cemetery. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home of Fulton handled the arrangements.
Survivors include one son, Todd Flanagin (Doris); one daughter, Toni Taylor (Joe) of Tupelo; one grandchild, Dillion Flanagin of Hamilton, Ala.; and a special friend, Major Kirk of Iuka.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Boyd Flanagin and Will Black; two half sisters, Estelle Hallmark and Vera Barnes; and her parents.

Melina Hyde
FULTON – Melina Marie Hyde, 3 month old infant, died Saturday, June 27, 2009, at her residence. She was born March 20, 2009, in Tupelo. She was a happy and well loved baby who enjoyed being outdoors.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Jerry Estes officiating. Burial was in the Dorsey Memorial Cemetery. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her mother, Angela Hyde; one sister, Sydney Hyde; grandparents, Donald and Kathleen Hyde, all of Fulton; great-grandmother, Monica Russell of Chicago, Ill.; aunt, Stacy Hyde; two cousins, Brennen and Nahvella Hyde, all of Hamilton, Ala.; and a host of great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Billy and Millie Hyde and Sydney Russell; and a great-uncle, Greg "Pug" Ison Sr.
