Mantachie Elementary School first-graders look upward to read poetry written on colorful, construction paper kites. Since poetry is better at being read than being airborne, teachers wisely attached the kites to the hallway ceiling for all to see. The school celebrated Youth Art Month in March with myriad artistic endeavors — from water color paintings, drawings of famous artists, Monet reproductions and the aforementioned kites. Every grade participated, and each had a single winner who was awarded an art kit from the school’s PTO.
