Indians' season ends with last-second shot

The IAHS Indians took on the Tishomingo County Braves early last week in the division tourney at ICC. The Indians fell 79-78 on a last second Braves' three pointer.

Martez Wells and James Thomas hit back-to-back-to-back three pointers to start the game, giving the Indians a 9-3 lead.

Joe Reed also hit a three pointer in the first quarter, but the Indians trailed 21-18 at the end of the quarter after an 11-2 run by the Braves.

The lead changed hands several times in the second quarter, but the Indians held a 42-39 lead at halftime.

Wells extended the Indians lead in the third quarter with back-to-back three pointers. After a Jimmy Ruff three pointer, the Indians led 57-45.

The Indians held on to their lead for the remainder of the third quarter and carried a 65-54 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Braves battled back and tied the game at 70-70 with 2:41 left in the game.

Tanner Wallace hit a three pointer to put the Indians on top, but the Braves answered and tied the game again.

After two Justin Osbirn free throws the Indians led 77-76 with 20 seconds left in the game, and he also drew a charge when the Braves tried to score.

Brandon Wilburn hit a free throw to give the Indians a 78-76 lead with 11.1 left on the clock.

After a timeout, the Braves in bounded the ball and drove down the court, hitting a three pointer with 1.5 left on the clock. The Indians were unable to answer as time ran out.

The Indians fell 79-78 to end their season. Wells and Osbirn led the Indians with 22 points each, followed by Thomas with 14.
