Bell Umfress

FULTON - Lula Bell Umfress, 78, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born Feb. 22, 1930, to Jim and Roxie Ann Hood Chism. She worked at Blue Bell and Arvin's before retiring from Itawamba Manufacturing. She enjoyed cooking for her family and fishing.

Services were at 2 p.m. today at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Bobby Amos and Bro. Bobby Crenshaw officiating. Burial was in Harden's Chapel Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Victor Umfress Jr. and Jimmy Allen “Jimbo” Umfress (Amanda), both of Fulton; four daughters, Shirley Jamerson, Jonnie Bishop (Tim), Judy Kay Umfress and Brenda Summers, all of Fulton; two brothers, James Chism (Frances) and Bilbo Chism (Nancy), both of Tupelo; four sisters, Jimmie Lou Hester (Clinton), Patsy Washington (Wayne) and Peggy Hayes, all of Tupelo, and Mary Alice Lyles (Kenneth) of the Auburn community; 12 grandchildren, Ross Jamerson (Amanda), Carrie Jamerson, Stephen Van Dyke, Shanna Crenshaw (Bobby), Shelley Riley (Jered), Jamie Osbirn (Jodie), Katie Thomas (Bill), Britton Umfress, Jessica Harbin, Jason Harbin, Timothy Summers and Samantha Smith; 10 great-grandchildren, Case Jamerson, Denton Crenshaw, Nathan Crenshaw, Evan Thomas, Anna Claire Thomas, Mary Frances Osbirn, Caelan Riley, Isaac H. Riley, Dallas Smith and Jaydon Summers; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Noonan Chism and Bert Chism; one son-in-law, Niles Jamerson; and the father of her children, Victor Umfress Sr., in 1997.

Pallbearers were Wayne Washington, Ross Jamerson, Grady Clark, Jamie Osbirn, Tim Bishop, Stephen Van Dyke, Bill Thomas and Jered Riley.

Honorary pallbearers were Britton Umfress, Jason Harbin and Tim Summers.

William H. Parker

MANTACHIE - William Henry Parker Sr., 58, died at his home in the Shiloh community of Itawamba County after a sudden illness. He was born Jan. 1, 1951, in Itawamba County to Kelvis Parker and Flunoia Ann Warren Parker Bobo. He was a Baptist. He was a self-employed mechanic and had worked for more than 17 years at Van, Waters and Rogers in Plantersville. He was a practical jokester with an outgoing personality who loved his children, grandchildren and siblings, and country music. He will be sorely missed.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland-Harris Funeral Directors with Bro. Sammy Raper officiating. Burial was in the Keyes Cemetery in Itawamba County.

Survivors include three sons, Glenn Allen Clayton (Kay) of the Peaceful Valley community in Itawamba County, William H. Parker Jr. (Connie) of Decatur and Bobby Parker (Ginger) of Mantachie; their mother, Gail Swann Lewis of Mantachie; seven grandchildren, Ashley Clayton, Alisha Clayton, Trey Parker, Aaron Pearson, Joshua Hester, Matthew Null and Caleb Parker; four sisters, Linda Dickens (Nicky) of Fulton, Debbie Parker of Tupelo, Shelia Burleson (Mike) of Palmetto and Pam Williams (Steve) of Troy; two brothers, James Parker (Helen) of Verona and Kenny Parker (Debbie) of Belden; a half brother, Scotty Parker of Fulton; a special friend, Vera Mae Bramlet of Mantachie; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Effie Mae Parker, in 2007; a grandchild, Abriana Smith-Parker; and his grandparents, Henry Parker and Viola Parker, and Rex and Bertha Warren.

Carl Zetterman Sr.

WAUKEGAN, Ill. - Carl Anthony Zetterman Sr., 65, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at his daughter's home in Bellevue, Neb., after a long illness. He was born June 13, 1943, in North Chicago, Ill., to Sigfried and Adele Atkinson Zetterman. His passions included golf and cooking; the Chicago Bears; his horse, Chester; and his Cocker Spaniels, Charlie, Fergie and Murphy. He was preceded in death by his last wife, Barbara Zetterman.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, at Marsh Funeral Home in Gurnee, Ill. Burial was private.

Survivors include his siblings, Mary Zetterman of Wimer, Texas, Agnes Hall of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, James Zetterman of Pennsylvania and Walter Zetterman of Waukegan, Ill.; his former wives, Wanda Hardy (Crocker) of Dennison, Texas, and Deborah Vanstory (Thompson) of Fulton; his children and their spouses, Carol and Jeff Huston of Bellevue, Neb., Carl Zetterman II and Kathy Ramariz of Frankfurt, Ill., Dorothy and Preston Camarata of Hearne, Texas, and Adele and Danny Sheffield of Tupelo; two stepchildren, Rick Hinks and Kim Hinks, both of Zion, Ill.; 20 grandchildren; and special friends, Susan and Lance Groat of Zion, Ill.

Memorial donations in memory of “Pops” may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.

Eddie Bill Sprading

MANTACHIE - William Eddie “Eddie Bill” Spradling, 57, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, at the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta, Ga. He was born Oct. 12, 1951, in Tupelo to Billy B. and Ola Knight Spradling. He was a graduate of Mantachie High School. He farmed, worked for the 2nd District of Itawamba County, operated Spradling's Grocery Store and drove a school bus. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mantachie.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. Roger Dale Franks and Bro. David Perry officiating. Burial was in the Stephens Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Grant Spradling (Jennifer) of Starkville and Adam Spradling (Stephanie) of Mantachie; one sister, Judy Smith (Lowery) of Mantachie; six grandchildren, Lake Spradling, Lane Spradling, Emma Claire Spradling, Gracie Spradling, Taylor Beth Spradling and Drake Frazier; and two nieces, Sonia Pearce and Cindy Phillips.

Pallbearers were Andy Spradling, Thomas Spradling, Andrew Tigner, John Tigner, Ashley Hinds and Thomas Guin.

Paul Coleman

BLUE SPRINGS - Paul Davis Coleman, 52, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2008. He was born Aug. 11, 1956, in Union County to David Sewell Coleman and Lynda Fay Stewart Coleman. He was a farmer and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church where he was active in Sunday School, the Worship Service, the Faith Outreach Ministries and he also served as a Church Greeter. He was a great husband, Dad and “PaPaw.”

Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, at the United Funeral Service Chapel with Dr. Kermit McGregor officiating. Burial was in the Vista Memorial Park Cemetery. United Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his parents; his wife, Cindy Weatherford Coleman of Blue Springs; one daughter, Anna Coleman of Blue Springs; three sons, Scott Coleman of Saltillo, Doug Coleman (Valery) of Fayette, Ala. and Grant Coleman of Blue Springs; six grandchildren, Alaina Coleman, Kelsey Guthrie, Hunter Coleman, Brooke Coleman, Rachael Coleman and Madison Porter; three sisters, Marla Nunnelee (Paul) of New Albany, Kathy Wilburn (Eddie) of Dorsey and Susan Gafford (Tim) of New Albany; two brothers, Alan Coleman (Debra) of Amory and Glen Coleman (Sharon) of Alpine; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Terry Freeman, Greg Richey, Travis Carr, Pete Sprouse, Terry Bryant, Paul Smithey, George Hodges and John Randle.

Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church Building Fund, 216 Hwy 15 South New Albany, MS 38652; or to St. Jude Children's Hospital of Memphis Tenn.
