The August meeting began with a delicious fish fry meal prepared by some of the men. All the fish were provided by legionnaire James Neaves. Kelly Mims was a special guest from the American Legion Post 49 in Tupelo. He has practiced law for 10 years in Lee County where he serves as a public defender and is a partner in the Mims and Logan Law Firm. He is running for Mississippi Court of Appeals in November.

As a fund raising project, members have been selling raffle tickets for a 9mm Glock Model - 19/latest model on the market. It is scheduled to be raffled off at our September meeting. The tickets are $1 each and can be purchased from any member. To purchase tickets or to get more information, call 662-862-9230.

A hog roast is set for Friday, Oct. 29, at 6:30 p.m. at the American Legion Post 51 hut. This is a dinner to honor the wives and husbands of the 155th National Guard in Fulton. We support our troops and the veterans and their families. We are here for them and want to offer assistance as needed.

One of our objectives is to increase public awareness of the services provided by the men and women who have served and are serving to protect our country.

For more information, call Ray Barrett at 662-862-3441 or 662-862-9230.
